Budget 2024: Special Packages for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a series of development initiatives for Bihar in the Budget 2024. Key highlights include:
Infrastructure Development:
- New airports, medical colleges, and sports infrastructure.
- Fast-tracking state government requests to multilateral banks.
- Rs 26,000 crore allocated for highways, covering key routes like Patna-Purnia, Buxar-Bhagalpur, and Bodhgaya-Rajgir-Vaishali-Darbhanga Expressway.
- A new two-lane bridge over the Ganga in Buxar.
Energy and Industrial Growth:
- A 2,400 MW power plant in Gaya.
- An industrial corridor node in Gaya.
Purvodaya Initiative:
Aimed at the holistic development of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.
Focus areas include human resource development, infrastructure enhancement, and economic opportunity generation.
Objective to transform this region into a driving force for a developed India.
For Andhra Pradesh
Development Fund Allocation:
- Rs 15,000 crore allocated for the current financial year.
- Assurances of further funds in subsequent years.
Commitment to Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act:
- Pledged grants for the backward regions of the state.
- Special mention of the Polavaram Dam project.
