BYD Introduces Ultra-Fast EV Charging System, Aims to Reduce Charging Time

BYD Cars
Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD has unveiled a new 1,000 kW charging system, designed to significantly reduce charging time for electric cars. The company also announced plans to establish a nationwide charging network in China to support this technology.
Charging as Fast as Refueling
The newly introduced Super E-Platform is capable of delivering 400 km (249 miles) of range in just five minutes. This advancement is expected to enhance EV adoption by addressing charging time concerns.
“Our goal is to make EV charging as quick as refueling a petrol vehicle,” said BYD’s founder Wang Chuanfu during the launch event in Shenzhen.
Expanding Charging Infrastructure
To support this new charging system, BYD plans to deploy over 4,000 ultra-fast charging stations across China. The Han L sedan and Tang L SUV, starting at 270,000 yuan ($37,330), will be among the first models to incorporate this high-speed charging capability.
With the introduction of this technology, BYD strengthens its position in the rapidly evolving EV industry. The expansion of charging infrastructure is expected to contribute to greater convenience for EV users and increase the adoption of electric mobility.
