MI vs CSK: Rohit, Suryakumar Fifties Seal NRR-Boosting Win for MI

Mumbai Indians (MI) mowed down 177 with nine wickets and 26 balls to spare, continuing their winning streak in IPL 2025. The victory saw Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav shine with match-winning fifties, while the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) struggled to find their rhythm in the chase.
CSK’s batting lacked the power to push the total beyond the manageable as they posted 176 for 5. A solid 50 from Ravindra Jadeja and a quickfire 50 from Shivam Dube helped them reach a competitive score, but their inability to capitalize on the early powerplay meant they never really threatened MI.
MI’s bowlers, especially Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner, restricted CSK’s scoring, with a notable lack of boundaries during the middle overs. The pressure of playing catch-up led to a few mistakes, with key players like Dube and Mhatre falling at crucial moments.
In response, MI’s opening duo of Rohit and Ryan Rickelton were in full control from the get-go, putting on MI’s first fifty-run opening stand of IPL 2025. Rohit led the charge with a composed 76*, while Suryakumar’s 68* helped seal the chase with ease, ensuring MI finished the game with 4.2 overs to spare and boosting their net run rate in the process.
The win pushed MI to 8 points in the standings, and the form of their top-order batsmen, particularly Suryakumar, has left them in a strong position heading into the next phase of the tournament.
