Nicholas Pooran made history at the T20 World Cup
Nicholas Pooran made history with a remarkable performance at the T20 World Cup against Afghanistan. In a sensational display of power-hitting during the final Group C match at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia, Pooran smashed an incredible 36 runs in a single over off Afghan bowler Azmatullah Omarzai. This feat marks the most expensive over in T20I cricket history.
Pooran’s performance was part of a night where he hit eight sixes, surpassing Chris Gayle’s record for the most sixes in T20Is for the West Indies. Pooran’s tally now stands at 128 sixes, four more than Gayle’s previous record. Additionally, Pooran achieved another milestone by becoming the first Caribbean batter to score 2000 T20I runs, cementing his place in cricket history.
