The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) is making headlines with its latest move. A 100-acre land parcel has been earmarked for the Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Welfare Trust (EVMWT). This initiative is set to transform the region into a hub for electric vehicle production.
Officials confirmed the news on Thursday, revealing that the Letter of Intent (LOI) has already been issued. The EVMWT had requested the land, citing interest from multiple manufacturers eager to develop an integrated project near the Noida International Airport. The land will be located in Sector 8, pending approvals.
What’s in store for this 100-acre plot? A dedicated cluster focusing on EV autorickshaws, two-wheelers, and component manufacturing. Yeida CEO Arun Vir Singh shared details, emphasizing that over 150 units associated with the Trust plan to set up shop here. This could be a game-changer for the local manufacturing sector.
But that’s not all. The excitement doesn’t stop at Sector 8. Over in Sector 10, a 206-acre Electronics Manufacturing Cluster-2 (EMC-2) is already attracting big names. Havells has secured 50 acres as the anchor company, and three other major firms have joined the fray.
A start-up manufacturing EV batteries for two-wheelers, including Royal Enfield, will get 10,000 sqm in this cluster. Another Noida-based start-up, Neenjas Electric, has been issued an LOI for producing EV chargers, LED lighting panels, and solar-based technologies.
The momentum is building. Last week, Dixon Technologies secured 22.5 acres in EMC 2.0, becoming the third company to enter the hub. Their plans include manufacturing mobile phones, consumer electronics, and telecom equipment. Two more companies, Ascent-K Circuit and Aurionpro Toshi Automatic Systems, have also received approvals under a central government scheme.
Sector 10’s land acquisition is progressing steadily. The EMC 2.0 project recently got the green light from Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada. Earlier, it had received in-principle approval from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in April.
Yeida’s bold steps highlight Uttar Pradesh’s growing role in India’s electric vehicle revolution. With land allocations, start-ups, and established players coming together, the region is poised to become a key player in sustainable manufacturing.
