JSW MG Motor India has introduced two new special editions of the Hector SUV called Blackstorm and Snowstorm. Both models are priced at Rs 19.99 lakh ex-showroom and sit approximately Rs 35,000 above the top-spec Savvy Pro CVT variant. The Storm Series is limited to the five-seater layout with the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired to a CVT automatic gearbox.

Exterior styling and key differences

The main difference between the two editions lies in their exterior colour themes. The Blackstorm adopts a full monochrome black treatment with dark chrome badging, piano black roof rails and smoked connected tail lamps. The Snowstorm takes a contrasting approach with a Pearl White body and a Starry Black roof creating a two-tone effect. Both editions share the new Storm Hex grille, black headlamp bezels, Aura Storm Blade alloy wheels and red brake calipers. Dark finished skid plates, body-side cladding and tailgate accents complete the visual package on both models.

Interior and cabin features

Inside, both the Blackstorm and Snowstorm receive an all-black cabin with black leather upholstery and dark trim accents. The front headrests carry edition-specific embossing reading BLACKSTORM or SNOWSTORM. The steering wheel is wrapped in leather with a gunmetal finish. Standard equipment includes a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, eight-colour ambient lighting, a PM2.5 air purifier and an automatic powered tailgate. The 35.56 cm portrait HD touchscreen runs the Smart Boost system for faster response and supports i-Swipe two and three-finger gestures for climate, navigation and music controls. The i-Smart connected car suite offers over 70 functions including a Digital Bluetooth Key with key sharing, predictive maintenance alerts and remote control of audio, air conditioning and ambient lighting via the app. A 17.78 cm digital instrument cluster sits behind the steering wheel.

Safety and driver assistance

Safety features are comprehensive and include a 360-degree HD camera with wheel view, front parking sensors, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-hold control and brake assist. An ADAS suite is also part of the package along with rain-sensing wipers.

Dealer-fitted Storm package

At no extra cost, dealers fit a Storm accessory package that adds edition badges, a red tailgate accent, fog lamp eye shadows with red detailing, ORVM protectors with red accents and side step boards. The red accents on the fog lamps and mirrors visually match the red brake calipers.

Powertrain and performance

Both editions use the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque, mated exclusively to a CVT automatic transmission. There is no diesel, manual or seven-seat option available in the Storm Series.

Ownership benefits and financing

MG offers 100 per cent financing on the on-road price for tenures up to 84 months, with the same terms applying to edition-specific accessories. The MG Shield 3+3+3 package provides a three-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, three years of roadside assistance and three labour-free periodic services. Extended warranty and prepaid maintenance plans are also available as options.

Rivals and market positioning

The Hector Storm editions compete with top variants of the Tata Harrier, Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the mid-size SUV segment. The special editions aim to attract buyers seeking a more distinctive visual identity without mechanical changes.
