GT vs RR: Sudharsan Stars as Gujarat Dominate Again

Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their dominant IPL 2025 run by handing Rajasthan Royals (RR) a 58-run defeat in Ahmedabad, marking their fourth straight win. Batting first on a red-soil surface, GT rode on a sensational 82 off 53 balls by Sai Sudharsan, supported by cameos from Jos Buttler and Shahrukh Khan, both scoring 36. They piled up a formidable 217/6, which proved too much for RR under dew-free conditions.
Sai Sudharsan looked in top gear from ball one, ramping and driving fluently to notch up his third fifty of the season. Despite a scare from Jofra Archer early on, Sudharsan counterattacked with ease, anchoring GT’s innings. Later, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan added a powerful finish, smashing 30 runs in the last two overs to take GT past the 200-mark.
In reply, RR faltered early with Siraj and Arshad Khan striking inside the powerplay. Although Sanju Samson (41) and Shimron Hetmyer (52) tried to build a fightback, Prasidh Krishna crushed their hopes with a decisive 3-wicket spell, including the crucial scalps of Samson, Hetmyer, and Jofra Archer. RR’s innings ended at 159, well short of the target.
The highlight with the ball was Rashid Khan, who returned to form by striking in his very first over and later removing RR’s Impact Sub Shubham Dubey. GT’s fielding and bowling discipline kept the pressure on throughout, not allowing any room for a turnaround. Prasidh’s middle-over strikes sealed the game with four overs to spare.
With this win, GT climbed to the top of the IPL 2025 points table, establishing themselves as serious title contenders. Meanwhile, RR’s two-match winning streak came to a halt. If Sudharsan and Prasidh keep this form going, Gujarat might just be the team to beat this season.
