Why Kheera(Cucumber) is use at birth time puja

Like the child is separated from the umbilical cord. In the same way it is used as a symbol the smallest form of cucumber, which has flower and leaf attached cucumber is separated from the stem by cutting it.
It is considered a symbol of separation of Lord Shri Krishna from Mother Devaki. Without this worship is considered incomplete.
