GT vs LSG: Pooran, Markram Snap Titans’ Winning Streak

Gujarat Titans’ impressive four-match winning streak came to a screeching halt as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) powered to a six-wicket win in IPL 2025. Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran led the charge with blistering half-centuries to chase down 181 at the Ekana Stadium. Despite a strong start from Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, GT’s middle-order collapse cost them dearly in the end.
GT started brightly with Gill (60) and Sudharsan (56) crafting a solid 120-run stand. Their batting looked in complete control till the 12th over, but LSG’s spin duo of Ravi Bishnoi and Digvesh Rathi turned the game around. From 120 for 0, GT stumbled to 180 for 6 in a dramatic collapse. Bishnoi’s clever wrong’uns and Thakur’s death-over tricks choked the Titans’ momentum.
LSG responded with flair. Markram, batting at the top alongside Rishabh Pant, played an aggressive innings, hitting a 26-ball fifty. Pant, returning to the opening role after a decade, added a handy 21 before being dismissed. Their partnership gave LSG the early push they needed, racing to 61/0 in the powerplay and putting GT bowlers on the backfoot from the get-go.
Then came Nicholas Pooran, who completely took over the chase. With seven sixes in his 61 off 34 balls, he turned the match into a formality. Pooran’s clean hitting, especially against Sai Kishore, was breathtaking—he single-handedly hit more sixes than the entire GT line-up combined. By the time he fell in the 16th over, the job was practically done.
With this victory, LSG leapfrogged to third in the points table, while GT were left to rethink their finishing strategy. The clash highlighted how fragile even a great start can be without middle-order support. As the race for the playoffs heats up, both teams will need to sharpen their balance and execution under pressure.
