Moto G85: Two Months In, and I’m Still Loving It!
I’ve been using the Moto G85 for the past two months, and honestly, I’m blown away by how much this budget-friendly phone has to offer. If you’re on the fence about whether this phone is worth it, let me walk you through my personal experience so far—it just might help you make up your mind!
Design That Feels Premium
The first thing that caught my attention was the design. Despite being a budget phone, the Moto G85 feels quite premium in hand. The plastic back has this smooth, almost matte-like finish that’s both nice to hold and surprisingly durable. I’ve dropped it a couple of times (oops!) with no visible scratches or cracks. It’s lightweight too, so I can use it for long periods without that hand-fatigue you get from heavier devices.
Display and Daily Use
The 6.5-inch Full HD+ display is one of my favorite things about this phone. It’s sharp, the colors are vibrant, and the 90Hz refresh rate makes everything so smooth! Whether I’m scrolling through social media or playing games, the experience feels seamless. The display is great indoors, though I’ll admit it struggles a little under direct sunlight, but for me, that’s a small compromise considering how well it performs overall.
Smooth Performance for Everyday Tasks
One of my concerns was whether the Moto G85 could keep up with my daily routine, and I’m happy to report that it absolutely does. Powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, it handles multitasking like a champ. I can switch between apps, browse the web, and stream videos without any annoying lags.
Now, I’m not a heavy gamer, but I do play PUBG and Asphalt 9 from time to time, and the phone handles them surprisingly well at medium settings. The 4GB of RAM might seem modest on paper, but in real-world use, I haven’t run into any major performance hiccups.
Camera: Surprisingly Good for the Price
Let’s talk about the camera. The 50MP main camera has exceeded my expectations for a phone in this price range. In daylight, the photos are sharp, detailed, and the colors are quite accurate. I’ve used it to capture everything from weekend hikes to casual hangouts, and it’s done a great job.
Low-light performance isn’t its strongest point, but that’s something I expected going in. Night Mode does help, but don’t expect flagship-level night photography. Still, for most day-to-day shots, I’ve been more than satisfied.
The 16MP front camera is perfect for selfies and video calls. I’ve been using it for Zoom calls, and the quality has been consistently solid.
Battery Life: A True Powerhouse
I can’t say enough good things about the 5,000mAh battery. This phone lasts forever! With my normal use (a mix of browsing, social media, a bit of gaming, and streaming), I easily get a full day and a half out of a single charge. On days when I use it less, it can stretch close to two days. The 20W fast charging is decent too, getting me back up to full battery pretty quickly.
Two Months Later USE
After using the Moto G85 for two months, I’m still extremely happy with it. That said, there are a few minor downsides. The display, while gorgeous indoors, could be a little brighter outdoors. Also, if you’re really into photography, the camera might feel a little limited in low-light conditions.
But, if you’re looking for an affordable phone that nails the basics—and then some—the Moto G85 is honestly hard to beat.
